Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
"I was excited to produce this 750 case release of a wine from Niagara that demonstrates what Sauvignon Blanc is all about...and Sauvignon Blanc is one of my favourite varietals to craft" Marco Piccoli, Winemaker
Vineyard Notes
The grapes for the 2009 vintage of our new Silver Series Sauvignon Blanc were harvested October 19, 2009 from Tufford Vineyard in the Niagara Peninsula at 22.6° Brix. We produced a limited 750 cases of this inaugural vintage, which displays New Zealand style & character.
Production Notes
This wine was cold fermented with selected yeasts after extended skin contact of 4 - 6 hours; this process is imperative to enhance Sauvignon Blanc varietal character.
Winemaker Notes
2009 was an impressive growing season for Sauvignon Blanc, and harvest has resulted in wines with lively flavours and distinctive herbaceous notes. This is a 750 case production of a New Zealand style Sauvignon Blanc displaying fresh, bold aromatics of grassy citrus, grapefruit, and herbaceous floral notes, with tropical and citrus flavours and a crisp lingering finish.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine is easily approachable, and perfect to sip on its own or ideal when served with steamed crab, grilled fish, shrimp or chicken, light pasta dishes or risotto.
